Ambivalente Stereotype

Der Islam ist nicht nur eine Religion, sondern auch eine Leinwand für viele nicht-islamische Mehrheiten unserer Gesellschaft. Was als islamisch gesehen wird und was nicht, liegt zu oft alltäglich im Auge des Betrachters. Letztendlich wird der Islam größtenteils durch Stereotype gefiltert, da jede Manifestation des islamischen Lebens, die über diese Klischees hinausgeht, einfach ungesehen bleibt.

Diese Fotografien sollen Stereotype durchbrechen, indem sie Verwirrung darüber stiften, was auf den ersten Blick islamisch scheint und was auf den zweiten Blick islamisch ist. Sie zeigen eine junge Muslima aus Deutschland, welche die stereotype Perspektive von Menschen erfährt – von jenen, die sie als Muslima wahrnehmen, aber auch von jenen, die sie aufgrund derselben Stereotype, die sie nicht erfüllt, nicht als Muslima respektieren wollen. Die Fotos sollen die Spannungen zeigen, die mit einem Leben einhergehen, das zwischen diesen ambivalenten Polen geführt wird.
